Tesla is an American Electric Vehicle and Clean Energy company. The company was founded in 1 July 2003 by engineers Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. The headquarter of Tesla in Palo Alto, California. The company’s name Tesla is a tribute to inventor and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla. The company Tesla particularises in manufacturing of electric vehicle, battery energy storage from home to grid scale and, its acquisition through manufacturing of SolarCity, solar panel and solar roof tiles.
Tesla operates multiple production and assembly plants, such as: its main vehicle manufacturing facility at Tesla Factory in Fremont, California; Giga Nevada near Reno, Nevada; Giga New York, New York; and Giga Shanghai in Shanghai, China.
Tesla has had to master multiple technology domains, including batteries, sensors, artificial intelligence, motors and glass as a integrated manufacturer.
Tesla uses thousands of small, cylindrical, lithium-ion commodity cells like those used in consumer electronics. The Batteries of Tesla’s are manufactured in Gigafactories, the term Gigafactory comes from the word ‘Giga’ means the unit of measurement representing “billions.” It uses a version of these cells that is designed to be cheaper to manufacture and lighter than standard cells by removing some safety features. According to Tesla, these features are redundant because of the advanced thermal management system and an intumescent chemical in the battery to prevent fires. The sole supplier of the cells for Model S, Model X, and Model 3 and cooperates with Tesla in the Giga Nevada’s ’21–70′ cells is Panasonic.
By lead researcher Jeff Dahn, Tesla has ongoing battery research and development work at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada. In 2019 Tesla acquired two battery companies Hibar Systems and Maxwell Technologies, all expected to play an important role in Tesla’s battery strategy.
Tesla also introduced a standard moving feature, that all of its cars included Autopilot i.e., just Traffic-Aware Cruise Control and Autosteer. The company announced the Tesla as glass technology group in November 2016.
Tesla’s first retail stores were established in Los Angeles. It’s first new design store opened in the Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto, Ontario. It’s first European store opened in London and their headquarters are in Amsterdam.
